Many overseas people speak very highly about New Zealand as a tourist attraction. However, I was surprised recently when a guy in England asked me, "Where is New Zealand?"
There's an old belief that asking questions is the best way to learn. Any questions that you care to ask me about New Zealand and life in this part of the world, I shall be very happy to do my very best to answer. Recently, a blogger in Montana asked me about the New Zealand Penguins.
Kindest regards from Aotearoa

We have found that here in NZ referenda are not worth the paper that they are written on. In a recent general election referendum, the government was given a very positive message by 96 percent of voters that punishment for serious crime must be greatly increased. The 60 odd members of the government refused to follow the large majority wish and threw the referendum out! The running cost of the referendum to the taxpayers was more than ONE MILLION DOLLARS. We continue to be ruled by this tiny minority with ever increasing serious crime. Is this the democracy that huge life costing attempts are being made to spread world wide? Do you agree that some very serious thinking needs to be done before it is too late?

| Another day and managed to get back here without getting lost. Summer may have arrived here in NZ even if about two months late. I won't count my chickens before they're hatched but rather wait to see what tomorrow brings. |

| Being my first posting I certainly am feeling my way. Some say familiarity breeds contempt but in this case familiarity is much needed to build confidence. Happy blogging to all. |
